Property Developer is looking for an experienced and highly organised site supervisor with knowledge and experience of construction processes with an excellent eye for detail and emphasis on quality. We are looking for somebody to be our eyes and ears on the ground ensuring the terms of contract are observed. Liaising with contractors, architect, engineer, surveyors and other involved professionals, being a conduit to ensure a smooth-running construction progress.

This role holder will act as the first point of contact contractors, project team and the Developer.

The person will be reporting to the Developer and will be working closely with the project team: architect, surveyor, engineer, quantity surveyor and other related parties.

Job location

Working between the office (Canefield, Morne Daniel) and construction site (Laudat, Providence, Dominica). It is expected that around 90% of time will be spent on site.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Site supervision of the contractor, checking all critical stages to ensure that the quality meets both the specification and the expectation of the Developer as per contract
  • Highlighting potential specification design issues for comments before they affect construction and programme
  • Checking for component clashes
  • Giving a view on completion dates as work progress
  • Inspecting construction work and comparing it with drawings and specifications
  • Measuring and quality checking building materials, including sourcing materials if required
  • Identifying defects and suggesting ways to correct them
  • Maintaining quality control procedures
  • Ensure that work carried by the construction company complies with building regulations and health and safety legislation as well as other legal requirements
  • Checking that building regulations, health and safety, legal and ecological requirements are met
  • Monitoring progress of the project and working closely with the architect to provide regular reports on progress to the project group and the Developer
  • Referring to plans and taking photographs of work, along with measurements and samples
  • Reporting any unresolved concerns and be proactive with problem solving
  • Attend project meetings
  • Checking and preparing reports for the Developer in cooperation with the Project team
  • Assist in or facilitate needed and required inspection services
  • Assisting in development, analysis and monitoring project and program schedules at various levels of detail as requested by the Developer
  • Assist and cooperate with Project Professionals in their activities during Construction
  • Other duties relating to construction administration like review change orders, respond to contractors’ requests for information and other duties requested by the project team

    1. Progress.
    2. Delays
    3. Weather conditions
    4. Drawings and instructions received
    5. Deliveries
    6. Health or safety issues
    7. Other significant events

Desirable (but not a requirement):

  • Professional qualification in building engineering or construction related project with good understanding of drawings and project management.
  • Candidates qualified by experience are also welcomed, providing they can illustrate and prove their achievements
  • French speaker an advantage but not essential
